Children at Plantpots Jesmond & Forest School are ‘extremely happy and safe’ according to a recent Ofsted inspection which rated our Montessori nursery as ‘Outstanding’.

Inspectors visited the nursery in July 2021 where they were impressed by the enthusiasm the children showed for starting their day, the stimulating outdoor classroom in the nursery’s forest school, the exciting and challenging activities on offer and how staff have high expectations for the children.

They also praised the children’s behaviour, how they readily take turns without being prompted and were delighted that the children spontaneously came up to inspector and said that they ‘love nursery’.

Several areas were singled out in the Ofsted report, including:

  • Plantpots’ broad curriculum

  • Activities that help the children gain a deep understanding of themselves and to respect others.

  • Support for children who are learning English as an additional language and how all the children are exposed to different languages through Plantpots’ bi-lingual staff.

  • How staff challenge children to develop their literacy and early writing skills and encourage them to develop a love of reading.

Plantpots owner, Tamasine McQueen, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted. We have worked hard since launching Plantpots Jesmond in 2018 to provide an experience for children that encourages individuality, independence, and curiosity, and are delighted to have this recognised by Ofsted. Of course, we could not have created such a wonderful nursery without the support of our families and their fantastic children, so a special thank you goes to them for all the help and feedback they have given us.

“We are extremely proud of what we have achieved so far and will continue to provide lots of exciting activities and opportunities for our Plantpots’ children to grow and develop.”
